Testosterone in the Womb Linked to Autistic Traits

Researchers from Cambridge University in the UK have found that higher testosterone levels in the womb are linbked to a greater risk of Autistic traits later in childhood.  This does not mean that the children were diagnosed with autism, only that they were more likely to exhibit autistic traits....

A Saliva Test for Autism? Italian researchers claim to have found abnormalities in a protein isolated from the saliva of 19 of 27 children with autism studied.  At least one of the proteins showed significantly lower levels of phosphorylation in 19 of the 27 children with autism as compared to those in the control group. Defending Vaccines: Actress Dispels Link To Autism  A movie star and a prominent scientist have teamed up to reassure the public that childhood vaccines are safe and do not cause autism. Amanda Peet, who starred in films including The X-Files: I Want To Believe and Syriana, is working with Paul Offit, the chief of infectious diseases at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
